Confidentiality and charges
We operate to a high level of confidentiality as demonstrated by four years of producing modified exam papers for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). We were using "live" exam papers and modifying them into braille and large print in English and Maths.
We respect the Data Protection Act and will advise companies using our services that we will not wish to know their client's address for forwarding to unless they have their express consent. We usually return the transcribed material to the company.
Charges
Our charges for braille and modified large print are calculated in two parts.
Firstly we have to process your original into a suitable master format. if you can provide it in electronic format we would prefer it. We can use MS Word, txt, rtf, Quark, InDesign or pdf, if we have to.
This is an hourly rate, which clearly will be more if we do have to intervene and amend or extract text.
Secondly there is a run-off or embossing charge.
We will calculate this after stage one when we know how exactly how many pages of finished braille or mlp there will be.
We will not move to production until we have given you a firm quotation. Then you decide how many copies you require and we will produce them.
The best way is to call us or email us first to discuss your requirements.
Remember we are trying to promote the use of braille and accessible materials, so we are not going to quote a ridiculous amount.
Tactile diagrams are also costed by design cost and production cost parts. Each sheet has to be individually processed and the cost reflects this. Design is costed at the hourly rate, and copies are per copy.
