Access Technology Assessment

We have considerable experience in assessing the technological options to gain access to information.

There are three main approaches,

magnification – lenses, electronic lenses and software

tactile – braille, moon and tactile diagrams

audio – screen reading software packages, audio CD & daisy

We will complete a detailed assessment of the individual's options and a written report will be produced showing the possible equipment or software that would provide the most appropriate access.

The equipment / software will be available from ourselves or a partner organisation.

Access Technology Provision

We can provide a wide range of access technology, ranging from hand-held electronic magnifiers to desk based Telemagnifiers and reading machines. We can also advise on software solutions, based on our experience of the most effective ones for particular situations.

Access Technology Training

When equipment or software is provided it is very important that adequate training is given too.

We train in individual's homes and also in the work environment, in which case we like to involve the trainee's colleagues so that the training covers the actual work that will be required by the person and the equipment.

How much will it cost?

The current rate is £250 per half day plus travel and accommodation expenses.
